The role of investment banks in the securities markets in United States

Abstract

The article discusses the activities of investment banks in the stock market. The difference between an investment bank and a commercial bank is noted. The types of services provided by the investment bank to both issuers of securities and buyers of financial instruments are given. Investment bank helps companies issue debt obligations, guarantees placement of securities and assumes risks associated with the purchase and sale of securities. The role of investment banks in the market of mergers and acquisitions is noted.
